Aaron's iPod Challenge

On Friday over at AaronGleeman.com, our resident blogstar kicked off his second annual "the iPod Shuffle" bonanza. The concept is very simple: he asks us Bloggers and readers alike to set our iPods on shuffle and then record the first 50 songs that appear.

Let me preface this exercise by indignantly remarking that I had an iPod before anyone else I knew, therefore making me a bold trendsetter and you people just pitiful copycats. I purchased mine on the 2nd day that the 3rd generation came out in the winter of 8th grade, so almost 4 years ago. The fact that the 3rd generation came out just before I bought mine is nothing more than dumb luck, and I could easily now have the original brick with the moving scroll wheel.

Also, if any of you have heard of more than 3 or 4 of these bands, I'd be pretty impressed.

50. Everything's A Miracle - The Semester

Ironically, the list ended with my favorite song of all time, which is far and away the most played song with more than 200 plays. The Semester, for the record, is a band from my town of Bloomington. They're 19 and 20 now and tour the country almost full time, while also having released 3 CD's. My band opened for them on their sold out CD Release show last June.

While I love music (in my opinion) much more that most people, I'm the first to admit that I have a pathetic lack of variety. With the exception of Bob Dylan, every single band on this list could be labeled as modern Pop Punk/Emo/Post Hardcore. Like I also said, I wasn't able to incorporate the 620 songs on my laptop, which also reflects some of my new tastes.

If you feel like going through the trouble, shuffle up a little bit yourself and leave it in a comment.
